When I first started learning to crochet, I mainly focused on using simple baby crochet patterns. These patterns are usually easy to follow, are some of the most adorable patterns out there, and best of all, don’t take nearly as much time to complete as full size projects. Not to mention, the finished products make great gifts!

I would certainly advise anyone who is just starting out with crocheting to begin with one pattern and become really good at that before trying to move on. When I first started, I used a granny square baby crochet pattern. This is an easy pattern to learn, and you can make beautiful baby afghans using granny squares.

My favorite part of baby crochet patterns is that you can make such beautiful and memorable gifts. I have crocheted gifts for my niece and nephew, children of friends, and my own beautiful daughter. These are not the types of gifts that will end up in a yard sale when the children grow out of them. In fact I still have the afghan that my great-grandmother crocheted for me when I was a baby, and it is one of my most treasured possessions.

Some of the most common baby crochet patterns are blankets (also known as afghans), hats, booties, and mittens. However, you can also find baby crochet patterns for shawls, sweaters, pillows, and even toys!

A wonderful baby crochet patterns book that I would recommend is Candy Babies: Cute Crochet for Wee Ones by Candie Jensen. This book contains over 130 pages of stylish patterns. Each pattern is accompanied by full-color photos and easy to read instructions. This book also includes a list of yarn resources, which can be very helpful.

Both beginners and more advance crocheters could benefit from adding this book of baby crochet patterns to their collection. Happy Crocheting!
